our aim

All of my life I have had an interest in the burning questions of our existence. Like most people, I have enjoyed those
moments when my knowledge and understanding has been enhanced, either by discussion, a good book, a great DVD or a documentary on the TV.

I was spurred on to create sentience.tv to give access to some of these moments in a form that works in today's busy internet age. That we could ponder the creation of the universe or why our consciousness came into existence while we took a coffee break from the kids or work.

I am aware that we all have our own inner worlds that are shaped by meaning and beliefs. These are important to each one of us. I hope you would be prepared to share some of yours with the sentience community.

My aim in all of this is to create a space where individuals can have the chance to grow spiritually, through reason and knowledge...not fear and ignorance. We are all equipped with sufficient intellect and imagination to understand our reality in ways that complement what we know and how we behave.

The series of short videos are a good start. They should not impact too much on your day but should have a big impact on your life. I suggest you mull each one over before moving onto the next one.

There will be web based broadcast discussions from time to time, chatrooms and a chance to submit your ideas and opinions to our regular newsletter which will keep you updated of events on the site.

I guess that the ethos and aim of the site can best be summed with one of my favourite quotes from Albert Einstein....

"A human being is a part of the whole called by us 'the universe', a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feeling as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty".

Please enjoy.
